The session, entitled �Application of Advanced ASR,� will be held on Monday, August 18 from 11:15am-12:00pm as part of the Technologists Advanced Speech Technologies Symposium track. Dr. Gavalda�s presentation will focus on innovative applications of phonetic indexing and search technologies, such as automated tagging of audiovisual assets, language and dialect identification, automated pronunciation and fluency assessment for non-native speakers, and robust transcript synchronization for lip-synching avatars. In addition, the presentation will showcase sophisticated speech analytics for the call center, including graphical visualizations of call category trends and correlations in the form of tree- and cluster-maps, ANOM metrics on average handle time by agent and call category, and application of machine-learning techniques to compliance analysis.

With over 15 years of experience building computer systems that understand aspects of human language, Dr. Marsal Gavalda holds a PhD in Language and Information Technologies and a MS in Computational Linguistics, both from Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to Nexidia, he served as Director of Language Technologies at Dictaphone and as Senior Research Scientist at M*Modal. With a passion for learning about languages and technology, Gavalda speaks six languages fluently and is also the author of over 30 scholarly publications and half a dozen patents.
