Norton Safe Web Beta Now Available

Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC),
makers of Norton security software, announced the availability of Norton
Safe Web beta, a Web site rating service that makes the Internet a safer
place, whether shopping, watching video, downloading music or just surfing
the Web.

Leveraging the power of Norton Safe Web beta, users can easily
differentiate safe Web sites from malicious ones by observing the visual
site ratings delivered within everyday search results from top sites like
Google, Yahoo! and Live Search. Additionally, due to the nature of security
threats on the Internet, Norton Safe Web will warn users before they visit
a site that contains malicious content.

"Our goal for Norton Safe Web is to provide users with the most up-to-date
and accurate Web site ratings of any offering on the market," said Rowan
Trollope, Senior Vice President of Consumer Products. "We can do this by
leveraging the millions of members of Norton Community Watch -- a
'Neighborhood Watch' program that relies on the eyes and ears of the Norton
user base to detect and report trouble. This trusted information helps us

The Norton Safe Web beta also includes a free online community site for all
Internet users. Everyone can benefit from this offering by visiting
http://safeweb.norton.com to look up a site's safety rating. Additionally,
users are encouraged to become active participants in the community by
creating an account and submitting user reviews based on their experience
with any site on the Web.

Availability

Norton Safe Web beta is initially optimized for US English websites and
is now available for Norton Internet Security 2009 English beta users only.
The Norton Internet Security 2009 English beta can be downloaded here:
http://www.symantec.com/norton-beta. Users who already have the Norton
Internet Security 2009 English beta can download the Norton Safe Web beta
here: http://safeweb.norton.com/beta/download. An English-only version of
Norton Safe Web is expected to be available in winter 2008, with additional

language support expected to follow. Additional details regarding the
availability of Norton Safe Web with other Norton offerings will be
announced at that time.
