SimpleMail consumer push e-mail solution introduced by Synchronica
(Worldwide Computer Products News Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
Synchronica plc (AIM: SYNC), a provider of mobile e-mail and
synchronisation solutions, announced on Tuesday (28 October)
Synchronica SimpleMail, a new consumer push e-mail (CPE) solution that
brings mobile e-mail to almost all currently used handsets.
According to the company, the new solution, based on technology from
the recent acquisition of former competitor AxisMobile, extends the
addressable market for push e-mail to even the most basic handsets,
making it particularly suitable for mobile operators in emerging
markets.
Synchronica SimpleMail includes 'E-mail to SMS' and 'E-mail to MMS'
gateways and a clientless solution for WAP/xHTML browser access. In
addition, it features an Optimizer transcoding gateway, which reduces
the size of pictures and allows a variety of attachments, including
Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents, to be displayed on feature phones
that would otherwise be unable to support this functionality. Users can
register for the service from their mobile handset, rather than having
to register via a PC.
The solution supports Google Mail, Yahoo, MSN Hotmail+ and any POP3 or
IMAP4 mailboxes and offers real-time device auto-detection and
multi-lingual support, including English, Cyrillic, Chinese, Arabic and
Kanji. It also offers support for multiple e-mail accounts on one
device.
The company said it has signed license agreements for the new
technology with two mobile operators in India and Africa and has
received an expansion order from a mobile operator in Russia/CIS for
additional licenses. No financial details of any of the deals were
disclosed.
