VOSS Solutions, a service provider in Unified Communications (News - Alert) delivery and management software, has announced the universal availability of VOSS 7.2.

VOSS 7.2 is a highly scalable, real-time, centralized and fully automated UC service delivery and management platform designed to address the challenges involved in managing the entire lifecycle of UC services and applications.

The delivery and management platform of VOSS 7.2 dominates the UC and IP telephony networks for managed service providers and large enterprises. It provides a significant advancement in the overall management of unified communications, the company said.

The improvements are based on themes, such as “Managing the Virtualization of Voice Applications and Networks,” “Supporting the Latest Cisco (News - Alert) UC Advancements,” “Complex Gateway Management” and “Dial Plan Migration.”

As virtualization continues to improve the performance of data processing, virtualized architectures for UC, such as Cisco’s Unified Computing System or “UCS” are revolutionizing the virtualization of the data center, by uniting compute, networking and virtualization resources onto a single platform, company officials said.

“VOSS 7.2 has the ability to run within a virtualized environment, enabling organizations to make use of its exceptional flexibility, redundancy, and scalability, whilst benefiting from cost and time efficiencies,” company officials added.

VOSS 7.2 also supports the new Cisco UCS platform and broad range of UC products, which can be deployed on this architecture.

The management and delivery platform of VOSS 7.2 supports the new advancement of Cisco’s Unified Communications Manager, UCM 8.0, which is integrated into the Cisco UCS platform, company officials said.

The VOSS 7.2 supports all the Cisco devices, including simple low-cost and featured-rich next generation handsets. This includes the latest generation of Cisco IP phones including 69XX, 89XX, and 99XX series, they added.

Through the Complex Gateway (News - Alert) Management, VOSS 7.2 standardizes and automates the configuration of voice gateways and Survivable Remote Site Telephony or “SRST” in the customer estate, enabling a consistent configuration of voice-related hardware on the end-device, as well as dial plan administration in both the gateway and the rest of the UC network.

Under Dial Plan Migration, VOSS 7.2 provides the capability to make changes to dial plan models. It also automates the process of updating existing locations to make use of the changes.

The VOSS migration tool not only provides an auditable method of tracking changes against locations, but also offers significant flexibility in making changes to the dial plan post-deployment in a structured, managed and automated way, according to company sources.

Just recently VOSS Solutions announced it has procured adopter level membership in the recently formed Unified Communications Interoperability Forum or “UCIF,” a non-profit alliance of worldwide technology leaders dedicated to realize the potential of unified communications, TMCnet reported.
