Epygi Enters the Enterprise Market with QX1000

Epygi (News - Alert), a U.S.-based designer and manufacturer of IP systems for small- and mid-size businesses (SMBs), has entered the enterprise market with its largest IP PBX (News - Alert) to date. QX1000 handles 1,000 IP extensions and has some advanced capabilities, including a new audio/video conferencing licensed feature and a hot standby option.

The QX1000 represents a new market for Epygi which has previously targeted small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) with its Quadro range of all-in-one IP PBXs that have varying physical trunk and station configurations and scalability from two to 192 users. The QX1000 supports 1,000 SIP phones and is the company’s first offer within the larger enterprise market.

  • Scalability: Epygi’s new QX1000 unit supports a maximum of 1,000 SIP phones (300 concurrent calls) with 200 IP phones available in the default configuration and an additional 800 SIP phones enabled via software licenses in blocks of 16, 32 or 64 phones. Epygi partners with Aastra (News - Alert), Grandstream, snom, Polycom and Yealink for SIP phones, though any SIP-compliant IP phone will function with the Quadro.
  • Reliability: A Hot Standby Option can be configured by purchasing an additional QX1000 unit and a Redundancy Activation Key. The secondary QX1000 contains a copy of the system’s database, allowing it to handle call processing should the main system go offline; this “take over” happens in under a minute, according to Epygi. Hot Standby is also available for Epygi’s QuadroM32x platform (192 users).
  • Licensed Applications: Epygi’s new QX1000 and the earlier QuadroM platforms support some productivity applications which are easily activated by software license key (no additional hardware required). These include call recording, automatic call distribution, a barge-in feature pack, outbound dialer tools, XML API and the Quadro Communications Manager (QCM) software telephone for the PC. (Note that all Quadro IP PBX systems have voicemail and auto attendant with IVR as standard features with no license required.)
  • Video: Video conferencing is the newest licensed-activated application. No additional server equipment required, but the end user will need a video desk phone or a PC softphone with a camera. The QX1000 system supports 104 video participants (288 conference participants in total with 184 audio-only participants; audio and video users can be mixed on the same bridge). Earlier QuadroM platforms also support the new video conferencing licensed feature with 16 video participants on the QuadroM32x and 10 video participants on the QuadroM8L/26x/12Li/26xi platforms.

Epygi’s QX1000 (currently at Release 5.2) is now generally available worldwide with installations already in South Africa, the U.S. and Australia. QX1000 lists for $9,995.00 USMSRP.
