Cbeyond Inc, formerly Cbeyond (News
- Alert) Communications, is a telecommunications and information technology company based out of Atlanta, Georgia. Cbeyond uses a private IP network to provide IT services to small businesses throughout the United States, offering more than 30 productivity-enhancing applications. Cbeyond announced that it would have representatives presenting on the benefits of using its cloud services at ITEXPO, starting January 31, at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
Cbeyond, was founded in 1999 by Jim Geiger (News - Alert) and claims to be the first company to develop VoIP (Voice-over Internet Protocol) service. This service allows users to transmit voice, data, and other content over the Internet via their computers, mobile devices, and tablets. The company provides their VoIP cloud services to over 60,000 enterprises within domestic 14 markets.
Jeff Uphues, Cbeyond’s Vice President of Sales for Cloud Solutions and National Sales, will be speaking at the expo during a panel called, “How to Generate Monthly Revenue with Unique Service Offerings,” starting on Wednesday, February 1 at 9 a.m. Cbeyond said Uphues’ panel will help companies understand how to pick a service provider for their company, which can be difficult in today’s competitive market.
Uphues will also participate in a panel later in the day on Wednesday, beginning at 2:30 p.m. called, “Triumphs and Pitfalls: Hosted, Cloud or On-Premise?” which will debate the ultimate question: is it better to have data services compiled within the building or over the air with a cloud-like service. Many users of both platforms have debated over the pros and cons of either choice.
“As small to medium-sized enterprises look for alternative, secure ways to improve efficiency while reducing costs, cloud computing has emerged as an operational necessity rather than a competitive advantage,” said Uphues. “Business leaders need to ask the right questions to determine how to best leverage the cloud and I look forward to sharing some best practices to guide smarter IT decisions,” said Uphues.
Bill Thompson, Cbeyond’s Senior Director of Product Management, will also speak at a panel on Wednesday beginning at 10 a.m. to continue Uphues’ discussion on the importance of cloud and the benefits a business will see after moving to the over-the-air service. Thompson’s panel is titled, “Cutting Through The Fluff: The Business Case for Cloud.”
Cbeyond is going beyond the panels at the expo this year by sponsoring the StartupCamp5 program, which highlights some of the most innovative and creative entrepreneurs in the communication technology industry. The event attendees will pitch early ideas and get real-time feedback from an audience full of potential investors, press, and industry heads.
