Zultys, a manufacturer of Voice-over-IP (VoIP) equipment for small to medium sized businesses (SMBs), has upgraded the software in its MX family of IP PBXs and added a mobile communicator client for Android (News - Alert)-based smartphones.
Its products for collaboration and conferencing include MXmeeting and MXconference, web-conferencing and internal audio bridge solutions that support four-way video conferencing, multi-party web-conferencing and internal audio conferencing services that allow companies to eliminate costly hosted services, cut travel expenses and more rapidly address customer needs.
The mobile communicator for Android offers a presence indicator, allowing users to see if their colleagues can talk or chat, provides access to corporate directories and call logs, gives users the option to be contacted with a single number, and gives users call handling features, including hold and transfer. It’s available for $99 per mobile license and is compatible with Android version 2.2 or higher.
“It is a perfect substitute for your desktop phone. I can see the presence of everybody that I call, so I know whether they are on the phone or not, and then IM them,” said Neil Lichtman, CEO, Zultys.
Zultys first offered a mobile client for BlackBerry (News
- Alert) OS and then for the iPhone in 2010. Today, the installed Zultys mobile user base is a 50-50 split between Apple and Research in Motion, but the challenges RIM faces are becoming evident and Apple’s (News
- Alert) share is growing.
“At the time when we were releasing the iPhone client, we were getting demand for Android as well,” said Steve Francis, chief marketing officer, Zultys.
Zultys recently announced iConnected Unified Communications (News - Alert) client for the iPhone for anytime, anywhere connectivity. iConnected gives a complete unified communications experience to mobile workers and allows them to stay completely connected to their company.
The solution also includes productivity-enhancing tools like presence, displayed visual voicemail, internal extension dialing and corporate directory access, allowing users to conduct IM sessions and use emaisl right from the corporate directory.
