Greenpacket recently announced that Telefonica (News
- Alert) has successfully completed a pilot run of its Intouch Connectivity Experience client for Mobile IP, meaning that Telefonica's users will be able to watch their favorite soccer matches, broadcast news and interesting content across multiple networks and devices seamlessly by leveraging their Mobile TV IP service.
In a release, Kelvin Lee, senior general manager of Greenpacket said, “We are pleased to be working with the world's leading and largest 3G operator in Spain. Our MIP enabled Intouch Connectivity Experience client support will be critical to Telefonica's service strategy as they continue to grow their mobile TV segment by delivering the best quality programs to their users.”
He added, “Mobile TV is in high demand among a large base of viewers in Spain and Latin America. We are helping to optimize operator control and enhance the mobile TV experience for these users as they move between different locations, networks, and devices.”
The pilot supported both Android (News - Alert) and Windows operating systems and also provided proof of the connectivity when toggling between 3G-Wi-Fi networks. The pilot showed that there were absolutely no jitters or control loss when video and content was streaming. The end user benefits as they get a seamless service experience as the Intouch client offloads onto the selected network to provide content on the best bandwidth network.
Lee went on to say that, “We are recognized as a key technology driver in the global mobile software industry, and we have a proven track record of delivering world-class solutions. Our MIP enabled Intouch Connectivity Experience client will seamlessly connect, extend services and switch Telefonica's users to the most preferred or optimized networks automatically.”
Greenpacket's Intouch Connectivity Experience client will now enable operators to offer customers a better experience across all mobile handheld devices such as smartphones, tables and feature phones. The company plans to demo its solution at the Mobile World Congress (News - Alert) 2012 in Barcelona, Spain which is being held from February 27th to March 1st.
In other news, Greenpacket recently revealed its intentions to deliver its WiMAX (News - Alert) Pocket Modem MF250 to schools in California as part of the state’s Digital Textbook Initiative.
