Extreme Networks and Ixia Integrate Applications

Extreme Networks (News - Alert), Inc., provider of Ethernet networking solutions, and Ixia, a provider of IP performance test systems, announced that they have agreed to cooperate in the integration of their products to enhance post-deployment service verification.

To start with, the two companies would integrate Extreme Networks’ Ethernet switch platforms and the ExtremeXOS modular operating system with Ixia (News - Alert) IxRave Converged Service Verification Solution.

IxRave software endpoints will be made available in all Extreme Networks Ethernet switches to allow faster, more accurate network problem resolution for service providers of all sizes.

This seamless integration will help service providers and triple-play enterprise users get visibility and insight from the automated network service verification, validation, and manage troubleshooting proactively.

In fact, IxRave’s active testing, in combination with configured network traffic, helps technicians diagnose and track problems down to a network component sub-interface. It also enables evaluation of infrastructure readiness for traffic demands on the network stemming from data, voice and video communications.

“Working with Ixia to further the intelligence of the network with our scalable Ethernet switching platforms brings greater value to customers who desire real-time insight into the performance of their mission-critical network services,” said Paul Hooper, chief marketing officer for Extreme Networks.

“Combining the IxRave service verification system with ExtremeXOS, the industry’s first modular and extensible OS for carriers and enterprises, is an exciting development and makes for an ideal way to build more valuable, reliable and responsive IP networks.”

“The combination of Ixia technology with Extreme Networks’ family of devices will be a major boon to service providers,” said Anupam Sahai, vice president of marketing for Ixia. “Truck rolls will be vastly reduced and technicians will no longer need to dive into the bowels of their network. Service provider’s support staff will quickly and accurately diagnose problems down to the device, port and network.”

Ixia also provides an ROI calculator through which carriers and service providers can do ROI Analysis to see how IxRave can help them reduce Operational Expenses for new IP Services.
