pbxnsip Announce Interoperability with VegaStream's Europa Gateway

SIP-based IP PBX (News - Alert) software player pbxnsip announced it has extended its interoperability partnership with VegaStream in an effort to extend the reach and usefulness of each company’s respective products.

After VegaStream introduced a new line of Europa Gateways that now incorporates an ADSL modem and an Open Applications Server, pbxnsip (News - Alert) moved to integrate its systems with the gateway.

Jonathan Greenwood, CEO of pbxnsip, said the company’s support and integration of VegaStream’s gateway further enhances the value offered for by its IP telephony deployments.

“This gives a far better solution for channel partners as it reduces costs and makes it far easier to install,” said Greenwood.

Because the Open Applications Server has been designed to host pbxnsip IP PBX software, and is capable of supporting Linux and Windows applications, there are a number of inherent advantages over a distributed solution including reduced costs and quicker installation time.

In addition, these new platforms are designed to be upgraded in order for companies to take full advantage of applications by reducing the deployment costs of VoIP services.

pbxnsip partnered with VegaStream on the solutions because the company wanted to add support for Linux and Windows for the Open Applications Server gateway in a single solution. By using Europa Gateways and incorporating an ADSL modem and an Open Applications Server gateway, pbxnsip has provided a VoIP gateway solution for resellers, distributors and end-users.

Steve Davis, vice president of Sales and Marketing at VegaStream, noted the gateway’s enhanced ability to connect channel partners and service providers to VoIP services.

"The introduction of these new developments will further enhance our position as the market leader for VoIP gateways,” said Davis. "We have had a lot of very positive feedback from our customers and applications providers."

The reason these powerful VoIP phone systems are so much less expensive for companies than a mere few years ago is, in part, that open source solutions such as Asterisk (News - Alert) – which runs on Linux – are often used as an IP-PBX solution. By incorporating open source and the Open Applications Server into the gateway, the costs of VoIP services to businesses can be greatly reduced.

In October 2008, Vice President and Founder of TMC Labs Tom Keating (News - Alert) gave readers great insight into the workings of pbxnsip’s Windows-based feature-rich IP-PBX. Read the blog here.

The Andover, Massachusetts-based pbxnsip and VegaStream will be launching the new Europa gateway at the Convergence (News - Alert) Summit North in Manchester later this month.
