The product supports Power Over Ethernet (POE), TLS and STRP security support as well as the full range of features offered in the Aastra 2.x SIP firmware release. We feel that in today’s business environment, these additions to our 67xi Series portfolio of SIP Telephones will be well received by the market.”

Aastra offers both traditional and open standard IP-based networking solutions including PBX (News - Alert) and IP-PBX communications systems, gateways, telephone terminals, VoIP endpoints, wireless products, as well as a full suite of advanced productivity software applications that includes Unified Communications (News - Alert), Web and Audio Conferencing, and Contact Center solutions.

The company’s Virtual Presence offering provides a secure, high quality, remote communication and collaboration solution allowing sharing of documents, multi-media content and real-time applications is said to be the first of its kind in SIP-based video communications appliances.

Aastra introduced the Aastra MBU 400 DECT Mobility solution, which is designed to slot in between the company’s personal mobility solution and their enterprise class SIP DECT (News - Alert) solution, which were previously announced. The solution comprises an access point that has both SIP and analog interfaces, and enables up to three simultaneous SIP calls and one analog call.

According to feedback received from customers, people are “very excited” about the new additions to the Aastra SIP portfolio, company officials say.

Jeronimo Romero, chief executive officer at EUS Networks in New York City, said the Aastra 6731i telephone is one of the most elegant, popular priced SIP phones that he’s ever seen.

Douglas Breitmayer at phusionPointe in Salt Lake City added, “The footprint is nice. I like all of the extra soft keys available for application usage and additional functionality.”

The 6731i SIP telephone is now shipping and can be ordered through Aastra’s regular distribution channels. Advanced orders for the Model 6730i can be placed now with an expected ship date of April 2009. Aastra Telecom (News - Alert) has also started shipping its new IP PBX meant for the small business market. AastraLink Pro – Model 160 is a cost-effective solution meant for businesses with 25 or less users.

“Feedback since we announced AastraLink Pro back in March has been overwhelmingly positive” said Yves Laliberté, executive vice president at Aastra Telecom. “Our resellers and beta trial participants alike are enthusiastic about how well AastraLink Pro hits the mark in terms of delivering a full suite of PBX/Key system features and functionality, while leveraging a host of new IP-based services, all in a fully integrated solution that is both flexible and easy to use.”
