Across IP network borders, Acme Packet (

Alert) session border controllers provide control functions to offer interactive communications such as voice, video and multimedia sessions. They support multiple applications in service provider, large enterprise and contact center networks, and the company’s SBC configurations leverage the so-called “Net-Net” OS software platform.
According to Infonetics, Acme Packet captured 48 percent of the SBC market based on product revenues in Q4 2008. The company had 45 percent market share for the fiscal year 2008, which according to Infonetics, was more than three times that of any competitor. Infonetics states that Acme Packet’s “consistent technological innovation and customer traction” is the major reason behind this high rating.
“These market share numbers demonstrate that Acme Packet’s growth is based on the strong foundation of our technology and our broad-reaching base of over 635 customers across fixed and wireless service providers, enterprise and contact center market segments,” said Andy Ory, president, CEO and co-founder of Acme Packet. “Acme Packet’s Net-Net SBCs provide a real value to our customers and help them solve the critical security issues.”
Infonetics also quotes Synergy (

Alert) Research Group’s evaluation, which claims that Acme Packet is holding more than a 30 percent market share advantage (51.9 percent of the overall market). This figure is for the standalone SBC market in the first nine months of 2008.

Alert) equipment and next-generation unified communications platforms with its SIP and H.323 interworking capabilities. The product also secures the subscriber access and interconnect/peering borders.
