ADTRAN IP PBX Certified for Deployment with Covad's Integrated Access Service

Converged services networking and communications solutions provider ADTRAN  has had its cornerstone IP PBX (News - Alert) product certified for deployment as part of Covad’s Integrated Access service, according to the companies.

The NetVanta 7100 IP PBX - a full-featured IP PBX that provides a multi-service access router, gateway, Wireless Access Point (News - Alert) (WAP) controller, Virtual Private Networking (VPN) and security features, and innovative Voice Quality Monitoring – is expected to combine with Covad’s SIP-based Integrated Access service to provide a high-quality solution for converged voice and data services in for Small and Mid-Sized Business (SMB) and enterprise end users, according to Jake Heinz, vice president and general manager of Covad VoIP.

“Covad and ADTRAN (News - Alert) have successfully tested the NetVanta 7100 and found it to work well with Covad's Integrated Access service,” said Heinz.

According to Heinz, Covad’s Integrated Access service is all-in-one phone and Internet service designed for businesses with up to 35 employees per location. The service is delivered over a voice-optimized T1 line and utilizes SIP trunking to support a wide range of IP digital and analog PBXs.

“This combination offers SMBs and enterprise customers an affordable, all-in-one phone and Internet service delivered over a high-performance, feature-rich platform,” said Heinz.

As TMCnet reported earlier this month, Covad has made increasing efforts to extend its reach into this space. Last November the company launched its indirect sales channel with the new Covad Integrated Access service. This new online quote and order system is designed to streamline pre-qualifications and speed the sales process.

The Integrated Access service was designed to combines affordability and reliability with a new simplified ordering and provisioning process that lets our sales partners concentrate on selling, not paperwork, said Heinz at the time.

The NetVanta 7100 provides a 24-port Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch and, as with all NetVanta products, comes with an industry-leading warranty and best-in-class technical support.

In addition, ADTRAN recently teamed with MetaSwitch (News - Alert), a provider of carrier IP communications solutions, announcing the availability of ADTRAN’s Total Access 5000: Multiservice Access and Aggregation Platform and Total Access 300: Series Optical Network Terminals (ONTs).
Both ADTRAN solutions are designed to fully support Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) for interoperation with the MetaSwitch call agent and media gateway. These new capabilities are expected to provide customers with proven TDM interoperability. This should help to support existing networks and advanced VoIP and IP Multimedia Subsystem (News - Alert) architectures.
