Comverse's Mobile Centrix Allows Mobile Operators to Offer Enterprise Telephony Services

The rapid growth in the number of enterprise mobile users has opened up new opportunities for service providers to also offer extend PBX (News - Alert)-based telephony services to the handsets of today’s workforce. There are roadblocks, however, especially in technical complexity and costs associated with the technology.

To help service providers overcome these issues, Comverse (News - Alert), a provider of communications software and systems, has launched its Mobile Centrex solution, which company officials claim, “will allow mobile operators to move into the enterprise market by offering advanced telephony services for on-the-go employees.”

Mobile Centrex, according to Comverse officials, is compatible with all types of mobile phones and advanced enterprise phone systems and is offered as part of the Comverse Converged IP Centrex solution.

This solution not only enables mobile operators to deploy attractive business services that help companies improve employee productivity but also makes it possible to offer various fixed-mobile features that use an existing corporate dialing plan as well as PBX-like call features on mobile phones including call transfer and three-way call control, personal conference bridge, and automated attendant.

John Bunyan, chief marketing officer at Comverse, commented that Comverse's Mobile Centrex solution is gaining market acceptance because it has been specifically designed to avoid any complex network integration with existing mobile network infrastructure.

“As a consequence, it minimizes network impact and ensures rapid deployment and time-to-market,” Bunyan said.

Comverse supplies software and systems enabling value-added messaging and content services, converged billing and active customer management, and IP communications. These solutions support flexible deployment models, including in-network, hosted and managed services, and can run on circuit-switched, Internet Protocol, IP Multimedia Subsystem (News - Alert) (IMS) or converged network environments.

Recently, the company joined the GSM Association’s Rich Communication Suite (News - Alert) (RCS) program to further drive the use of IMS for mobile phone communication services.
