Nortel Provides Unified Communications for Deloitte Russia

Deloitte is using a unified communications solution from Microsoft and Nortel at its new Moscow office.

Deloitte (News - Alert), a professional services firm, will use the solution to simplify its operations and empower its people to deliver first-class customer service.

Borge Nilsen, chief information officer for Deloitte in Russia and CIS countries noted that they were already using a unified communications solution based on Microsoft (News - Alert) Office Communications Server 2007 and wanted an infrastructure vendor who knew what was needed for a truly integrated unified communications network infrastructure.

Nortel (News - Alert) and Microsoft closely collaborate in the field of unified communications and their long term alliance ensured Deloitte that both solutions could be integrated to work together in supporting their people.

Nilsen informed that they tested this integration rigorously during the test period and are happy with the results.

“Apart from the technological excellence provided by Nortel solutions, we also believe we obtained the best solution in the market in terms of price per port and cost of ownership.”

The new infrastructure allows Deloitte employees to see if colleagues are available online and then instantly communicate with them. They now have access to presence communications tools that help enhance customer service. Deloitte employees can now enjoy the benefits of real-time collaboration and work away from office to gain access to company systems via their mobile devices.

Deloitte will also be able to manage costs and reduce its environmental impact thanks to Nortel's energy-efficient voice and data communications products.

Sergey Khomyakov, Enterprise leader for Russia and CIS countries noted that the combination of technologies from Microsoft and Nortel will help Deloitte streamline its business communication processes and will provide its people with necessary business information anytime and anywhere they need it.

“Nortel's LAN infrastructure provides a foundation for Microsoft unified communication applications, providing network users with new levels of truly unified communications experience.”
