Broadstripe Increases Speed of its Internet Service

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Broadstripe, a provider of entertainment, information and communications, has announced that it has increased Internet speeds for the vast majority of its Maryland residential high-speed Internet customers at no additional cost.

The announcement comes after a recent upgrade of its network, which in turn was driven by the demand for super-fast Internet speeds required for today’s high-bandwidth Internet applications and multimedia games. Broadstripe has now more than doubled its download speeds, according to company officials.

“As the Internet and its functionality evolve, so will our services and offerings,” said John Bjorn, VP and general manager for Broadstripe's Mid-Atlantic Region, in a release. “Broadstripe prides itself in providing the best in overall value in in-home communications and entertainment and we're thrilled to be able to offer our customers complimentary speed increases.”

Broadstripe provides a wide range of state-of-the-art digital cable, home phone and broadband internet services in communities in Michigan, Maryland, Oregon and Washington.

During this year, Broadstripe has announced several enhancements to its services offerings. Earlier this year, it introduced “Broadstripe Forever,” a first of its kind Lifetime Price Guarantee program that offers new and existing residential customers in its service areas one low price for life of about $130 for video, high-speed Internet access and home phone service – also known as VI.P.

The company recently announced the extension of Broadstripe Forever, which was earlier slated to run through the month of October. The contract-free Broadstripe Forever service will now be available until the end of the year, according to the announcement from Broadstripe.

In another development, Broadstripe deployed Aurora Networks’ Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical Network (GEPON) solution for its commercial services offering, TMCnet reported.

The GEPON solution includes Node PON, VHub and SMART Media Converter products, and it is deployed to help Broadstripe offer faster services catering to the individual needs of business customers, say officials at Broadstripe.
