Children International Cuts Costs with VoSKY's PBX-to-Skype Gateway

Children International, a global nonprofit organization, has reportedly deployed VoSKY's (News - Alert) PBX-to-Skype Gateway. The gateway will allow free Skype calling for employees, cut the cost of long distance and international calls and also improve collaboration and communication.

Children International is a global charity that helps children living in extreme poverty. Based in the US, Children International operates 17 sponsorship agencies. The organization deployed a VoSKY Exchange VIS8 at its head office to enable employees to make high-quality free Internet-based Skype (News - Alert) calls to partners and agencies in different cities and different countries.

According to Brian Majors, network engineer for Children International, since its previous VoIP product was no longer supported, Children International required an alternative solution which could be seamlessly integrated into its current infrastructure. The VoSKY Exchange has provided the charity with an easy and cost-effective way to integrate Skype into its communications network.

Children International has been able to save significantly on its long-distance calls as the majority of all calls made are to its remote international offices. Moreover, the VoSKY Exchange gateway provides a simpler method of communication with other companies. The international direct dial function gives employees an easier way to communicate with partner agencies in other cities and countries.

VoSKY Exchange gateway will seamlessly integrate a company's phone system with Skype. In addition, the plug-and-play platform is compatible with any existing TDM or IP PBX (News - Alert) phone system. The gateway allows in-office employees of the charity to call offices in other cities and countries for free. The gateway also enables the company's remote and mobile workers to make free inbound office calls from any location through Skype to their Avaya (News - Alert) PBX. This provides a savings of around $2,000 per month to the charity.

According to David Tang, global vice president of marketing for VoSKY, the cost-effective solution from VoSKY enables global charity organizations to enhance their business communications with employees, partners and donors. VoSKY’s enterprise-grade solutions create new opportunities for small-to-medium size businesses and enterprises to reduce communications costs and improve productivity.

The VoSKY Exchange Pro VIS8 is a stand alone, rack-mountable FXS PBX gateway that will seamlessly integrate with any existing PBX through the analog trunk ports to add up to 8 lines to Skype. This plug and play appliance does not require a PC. It is possible to interconnect multiple Exchange Pro gateways in different office locations to enable free calls between colleagues. While calls to other Skype users are free, calls to non-Skype users will be charged at low-cost SkypeOut rates.
