ScanSource Communications, BroadSoft Announce New Distribution Partnership

ScanSource (News - Alert) Communications, a value-added distributor of communications products, announced a new partnership with BroadSoft (News - Alert), a provider of VoIP application software to the telecommunications industry, to distribute BroadSoft’s PacketSmart and BroadWorks solutions.

With this partnership, ScanSource Communications reseller and service provider partners now have access to BroadSoft PacketSmart, company officials said.

“ScanSource Communications has long-been respected in the telecommunications industry as a trusted partner to service providers,” said Ken Rokoff, vice president, business development at BroadSoft, in a statement.

BroadSoft’s PacketSmart is a set of Software-as-a-Service or “SaaS”-based quality of service assessment and monitoring capabilities, which enables service providers to rapidly and cost-effectively deploy superior quality VoIP and video communication services to their customers.

“We are pleased that ScanSource Communications is enabling service providers to take to market our innovative IP-based communications services through BroadWorks and is ensuring the superior quality of experience of these communication services through the distribution of BroadSoft PacketSmart,” Rokoff added.

Simultaneously ScanSource Communications also introduced a new program for a select group of its service provider customers to purchase BroadWorks VoIP communications application server licenses.

The BroadWorks VoIP communications application server provides a comprehensive portfolio of business and consumer communications applications and value-added applications from a common network platform, according to company officials.

With this program, these select service providers can purchase BroadWorks licenses in a “just in time” fashion as they sign up new customers. The program also enables service provider customers to purchase the BroadWorks licenses bundled with Polycom (News - Alert) IP Phones.

Buck Baker, president of ScanSource Communications, said, “BroadSoft’s strong alliances with many of our leading vendor partners, including Polycom and AudioCodes (News - Alert), ensures our partners will have access to some of the industry’s leading comprehensive communications solutions available in the market today.”

Earlier in January, ScanSource entered into an agreement with IBM (News - Alert) and ShoreTel to distribute Integrated Unified Communications Solution, TMCnet reported. Under this partnership, ScanSource Communications offers the total UC solution, named ShoreTel for IBM Lotus Foundations, to its reseller partners.
