Cicero Networks (News - Alert), a provider of fixed mobile convergence and rich communications solutions, has announced that Multimedia Polska, a multi-service operator in Poland, has launched its MobilFON converged voice and messaging service using the company's CiceroPhone technology.
This is a VCC-enabled, multimode softphone that intelligently routes calls between WiFi (News - Alert) and cellular networks.
MobilFON offers users a converged VoIP/GSM service that supports seamless roaming without any disruption to calls. In addition, the operator offers chat/IM services to users on both WiFi and 3G networks using Cicero's IP messaging client software.
"MobilFon offers significant benefits to our subscribers as it allows them to benefit from low-cost calls and messaging services from their mobiles in any Wi-Fi location," said Przemyslaw Sypniewski, Key Project Department Director in Multimedia Polska. "Using Cicero technology, we were able to offer attractive, converged mobile services that are enabled without the need to change the current mobile number."
