Irving, Texas-based
Iwatsu Voice Networks, a provider of business communications solutions to small and medium-sized businesses, announced the release of ECS Software Version 7.0 for its Iwatsu Enterprise-CS IP-PBX (

The Iwatsu ECS and IES products offer cost effective call processing, unified communications, speech recognition, call reporting, in-building wireless, 100 percent transparent networking and text-to-speech applications that are typically used by Fortune 1000 companies, according to company officials.
Important enhancements in version 7.0 of ECS include improved Session Initiation Protocol (

With improved SIP trunk routing, the company makes the ECS product line even stronger in areas of interoperability with SIP trunks and multiple site voice networking - two driving factors of Internet Protocol or "IP" voice, said Michael Marchioni, Iwatsu Voice Networks vice president of Product Management and Marketing.
The software now interoperates with all leading SIP trunk providers and offers one of the best multiple-site voice networking solutions with 100 percent feature transparency, Marchioni added.
With ECS Software Version 7.0, SIP trunks connected to the ECS and IES systems dynamically access one of the available SIP trunk ports to complete inbound and outbound calls, company officials added. In previous software versions, dedicated SIP trunk ports were required for each unique number ringing into the system.
Further, the IP Campus has been expanded to support up to 25 locations. Previously it offered support to 17 remote locations. This enhancement makes the Iwatsu product line extremely competitive in banking and school applications where typically there is a main location and several branch locations, according to Iwatsu officials.
ECS software version 7.0 also includes other enhancements such as the support for the Malicious Call Identification feature and All Ring Hunt Group Name Display on Intercom Call.
Malicious Call Identification helps users handle harassing, threatening or obscene calls effectively. In case an Iwatsu phone receives such a call, the user is able to initiate a Central Office Malicious Call Identification request that sends call data to the appropriate public safety office.
The All Ring Hunt Group Name Display on Intercom Call feature displays the name of the hunt group being called on the LCD of the Iwatsu phone. The primary purpose of this enhancement is to provide additional detail about the caller's location when integrating the ECS or IES with a nurse call system, the company said.
Earlier in May Iwatsu announced the release of a Real-Time ACD Ticker application for ICS and IES platforms. This call center application provides scrolling text that displays real time agent and group information on the telephone displays, a TMCnet
report said.
